iOmega eGo Helium USB Portable Drive
The iOmega eGo Helium USB Portable Drive is pre-formatted with Apple HFS+ file system that is compatible with Mac OS X. The drive can be formatted in FAT32 or NTFS file system and will be compatible with Microsoft Windows XP and Vista. The drive is only USB 2.0 compatible but I think iOmega should have included a Firewire interface. The drive draws power from the USB port itself making it's portability a step above. The drive has a small LED that acts as activity meter.The design of the drive matches the Apple products in that it has simple but elegant styling. The color used is silver that matches well with Apple Macbooks. The exterior is similar to the Macbooks and the curves are smooth and rounded. The dimensions of the drive are small enough to be considered pocket size.The eGo Helium USB Portable drive comes with Drop Guard technology that protects the drive from drop of 50 inches. The devices has been priced attractively at USB Portable Drives.com From $85-$120. The performance of the drive is good too and it has a write speed of 20MB/sec. The read speed also clocked the same number. The iOmega eGo Helium USB Portable Drive should attract both PC and Macbook users looking for a rugged drive that can hit the road without worries.
